Q: Honda Civic Door Gasket Starting to Fall off. How can I BEST stick it back on?
Hello,
I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX 2-Door. The passenger side door gasket is falling off. It dangles and gets caught in the door. Some moisture gets in and also there is a wind noise issue on the expressway. Anyhow, could someone recommend a good adhesive and technique to get the gasket fully back on the door? Pro and expert answers only please; I could think of paste, superglue, etc on my own. Thanks for your help!

A: Use 3M weather strip adhesive. It is great stuff.

Q: Will Honda Civic make it from the Midwest to Washington?
I have a 2000 Honda Civic and am planning a move from St Louis to Washington next month. I would like to just take my car and some belongings, but I worry about the car making it through the mountains. Any thoughts?

A: yes, as long as it does not have any problems mechanical problems at the moment. Just get it check out before you go on your trip. If i were you I would go to advance auto or some place like that and you can get basic stuff like the oil and the battery and other basic mechanical things like that check for no more than twenty dollar, but I doubt that its even that much.

I have a 98 honda civic LX it’s hard to start in the morning. I change the battery last week. PCV valve changd last weekend.
Cap, rotor, wire, plugs changed last year. Clogged fuel filter?
Air filter looks ok. The car drives fine after starting and in the afternoon. Full power from engine with no power loss. Needs
answers ASAP. THanks so much!

A: Your temperature sensor is out of whack.
It probably is telling the computer the wrong ambient temp.
This would in turn tell the computer to pump more or less gasoline on start.

Q: How many miles per gallon should a honda civic 2008 be?
I bought a new honda civic 2008 in December. I have been driving it for three weeks and found that my MPG was way below its estimation. City is around 14 and highway is around 22. Although i am not expecting the same number as in the specification, it shouldn’t be that much different. Any one has the same problem? Should i bring my car to the dealer to check it?

A: Woah. Before you go back to the dealer put some more miles on the car. How have you been driving it? Did you read the owners manual on proper operation when it is new? An engine –even a Honda (the jewels they are)– has a break in period. If you don’t drive 200 miles a day, there is no way your engine is run in yet. The rings are seating, the valves are getting worn in. Give it 5,000 to 10,000 miles (again depending on your driving. If you drive all highway it takes longer as the engine is working easier) before you go to the dealer. Your mileage will increase, and usually Civics beat the EPA highway milage.

Q: How do you program a keyless remote for a 2002 Honda Civic Ex?
we recently got a used 2002 Honda Civic, but it did not come with any keyless entry remotes. we are planning on buying one or two remotes off of ebay, but we are unsure of how to program them and also where the FCC ID is located on the car. we checked on the frame of the driver-side door where there is a manufacturers label and a car information label, but could not find it. does anybody know how to program a 2002 Honda Civic keyless entry remote? or where to find the FCC ID on the car?

A: knowshon is right. If the vehicle had the key less entry system at one time it will work, but if the system was never there or if someone removed it , it will not work. If the contorl unit is there u just have to follow that procedure and it will work. Good luck!

Q: I have an old Honda Civic that needs new brakes and rotors, front and back. How much will it cost?
I have an old ‘91 Honda Civic with 165000 miles that needs new brakes and rotors, front and back. And I wanted to know how much will it cost? The car is only worth $1200.00, if it costs more than 500-600 its not worth it to me to fix it. Does anyone agree?

A: You can get the pads and rotors pretty cheap. A 91 should have rear drums. It’s really not that expensive to do brakes on those. A few things to add. Lube your slide pins on the front. Lube your contact points on the backing plate for the drum brake shoes. Buy new hardware for the rear no matter what. If you do the brakes yourself don’t forget to do one side of the drum brakes at a time so you can look at the other side if you are confused.

Q: How much does servicing/parts costs on a Honda Civic compared to a Mondeo?
We have a Mondeo at the moment but are looking at getting a new Honda Civic next and wondered what the difference is with costs of servicing and parts etc. We pay about £150 per service for our 51 mondeo at the moment. TIA.

A: Hi

Good choice of car the Honda and you will find in the long term the Honda works out the least expensive to service and maintain

For very simple reasons less goes wrong with the Honda and parts are about the same price . Honda main dealer labour rates are a little higher at times than ford but shop around they are not fixed in stone .

Hope this helps

Q: How high off the ground does a 1999 honda civic have to be to clear railroad tracks?
I want to trick out a 1999 honda civic ex but the law states that it has to pass over railroad tracks.

A: There is no standard, it varies by state. Usually it is between 9″-12″. Railroad crossings vary in height from level with the road anywhere up to a 30 and 45 degree angles (nasty for low-riders and semis). Most crossings that are steep or impassable for low riding vehicles have appropriate warning signs (with a picture of a truck being “cut” over the crossing).

Q: Does a Honda Civic have a RCA jack in the back of the integrated original stereo?
I have a 2003 Honda Civic (2 Door) and want to connect an amp and sub to it. So does the original stereo have RCA inputs? If it doesn’t how can I connect the amp to the stereo?

A: I doubt it. You are going to have to buy a Line Out Converter to be able to hook an amp up to your stock stereo.

Q: How can I find out what kind of Honda Civic Sedan I bought?
I recently bought a 2006 Honda Civic Sedan from a salvage lot, but I am not sure what type of sedan it is for example is it a DX, LX, EX, or GX. How could I find out? And whats the difference between the type of models? (Some of the features that came with it was a navigation system, sunroof, and XM Radio) Thank You.

A: call the dealer with the vin, or just type the vin into carfax , com, and it might just tell you

Q: What is the difference between the honda civic sedan 2007 version and the honda civic sedan 2008 version?
From my understanding the only difference between the honda 2006 and 2007 civic sedan is that the 2007 civic sedan has an ‘audio in’ adapter (i.e. for ipod). I own the 2007 version, it’s an awesome car, wondering what else they can feature in the 2008 model

A: the 08 civic has tpms (tire pressure monitoring system)

and that is it
