Q: Will a dodge 1500 tranfercase fit in a 2500 360 4×4 dodge ram?
Will a 98 dodge ram 1500 4×4 tranfercase work in a 98 dodge ram 2500 4×4?

A: yes it will both trucks can use the same transfer case as long as both trucks had the gas engine in them, the nv-31 and the nv-41 would interchange ,the only difference was in the yolks on the out put shafts, and one was a heavier duty transfer case.good luck.

Q: What color is best for the Dodge Ram 1500?
Hi I just got my license and i want to get a dodge ram 1500. When I get it I am going to lift it up 3 inches and 33 inch tires on it. Because im planning on offroading it. What would be a good color and an easy color to take care of for it. Please answer as soon as possible.

A: in an off road situation the darker the color the more that scratches will show, white will show just as bad, for the best color to hide scratches will be in the grey to silver range.

Q: I have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 and the check engine light came on but the engine is running fine?
My 2004 dodge ram 1500 Check engine light came on the other day and the engine is running fine. But today i stoped at a red light and it cut off with me.Can anyone help me with this?
well i went to auto zone today and he said i had a small leak and said it’s usually the gas cap so i bought a new one but engine light is still on. Any ideas anyone?

A: there’s about 40 things that will make the cel light come on but with it dieing out like that id say check the idle air control valve on it,you need to also check the plugs in it ,when the get a lot of miles on them they will cause this to start happening,it will start right back up but an occasional sputter will be noticed and you may also notice sometimes its slow to start up,have auto zone read the computer and give you the code from it for why the light came on to begin with, then you,ll have something to work with on it,good luck on it.

Q: Help on parking brake for a dodge ram 1500 4wd?
I am in the process of replacing the emergency brake shoes on my dodge ram 1500 and I discovered that the ones I purchased from AutoZone don’t match the OEM ones. There is a slot that is larger that what the OEM ones are. This is where the spring clips in. Short of buying the overpriced ones from the dealership, I seem to be stuck. Does anyone have any suggestions?

A: If the slot is different in size but does not prevent the spring from properly engaging the brake shoe and operating it correctly … to the extent that the difference is more cosmetic than functional, then by all means use the aftermarket shoes. If the difference prevents the spring from properly engaging the shoe and correctly operating them then you will have to return the aftermarket shoes Autozone and obtain shoes from another source, either a different aftermarket supplier or from a Dodge dealer which are correct for your vehicle.

Q: What manual transmission was used in 98 dodge ram 1500 2wd?
My friend just blew up the auto tranny in his 98 dodge ram 1500 sst. the autos in these trucks suck horribly and blow alot. to fix this we are doing a 5 speed swap. I just need to know which model manual tranny was used in the dodge trucks of this generation. Also if you know what motors they were used with that would be great. He has the 5.9L 360 engine.

A: 46RH-RE were what was used in the 90’s for 360’s. You could get one from a junk yard for around 200 bucks(lowest). Good luck!

Q: Should a Dodge Ram 1500 4×4 axle have a groove in it right where the wheel bearings are at?
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4×4 (360 motor). We went to change the wheel bearings and when we pulled out the axle, there is a groove about the same width as the bearings. Is that suppose to be like that or is it suppose to be all straight?

A: no,if the groove is cut real deep in to it you,ll have to replace the axle in it,they suppose to fit fairly tight once installed, that groove is an indication that the truck has done a lot of heavy hauling before, most of the ones that i see that are like this you have to replace the axle on them, its worn out is what is wrong with it,i changed mine in my 98 and it was still smooth,if you install new bearings on it, it won’t last as long and will probably cause premature bearing failure on it,good luck.

Q: How do you check passenger window control wiring on a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab ?
How do you check passenger window control wiring on a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab . Does the controls pop out or do you have to take door panel loose? Widow will roll down from driver side ,but passenger control will not take it down.

A: If it goes down from one switch, but not the other and goes back up on both I would have to recommend replacing the switch. It uses a double pole double throw switch to control which way the motor turns, and if one of those poles is broken and is staying in one direction, you’ll have operation in one direction from one switch and in the other direction from both switches. The switch pack just pops out of the door panel from the top.

Q: Where is the cam angle sensor located on the engine of a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L engine?
I’m looking to find out the EXACT location of where the cam angle sensor is on the engine of a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L engine. I’m looking for a specific and detailed answer here. Please no general answers. Thanks, your responses are always greatly appreciated.

A: If your serious, you’ll go to your local public library and look up your vehicle in the Motors and Chiltons manuals. Ideally you need a professional shop manual from http://www.helminc.com which is expensive. You might also try a one time $10 subscription to an online source as below.

Q: What is the cheapest lift kit to put on my Dodge Ram 1500?
I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 with the 5.2 V8. I want to make the stance bigger and the cheapest lift kit I can find for a 5″ lift is the rough country lift. It’s still at least $800. Is there any other unknown lift kits that are any cheaper? Also. If I end up getting a new lift on my truck, if I keep the stock tires on it will it effect anything or make it look stupid?

A: Look at 4wheelparts.com and compare it will look a little funny with stocks but thats what you have to do until you get money for tires

Q: Can a mechanic help me with my 2006 Dodge Ram Truck 1500 Auto Transmission question?
I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. From a standstill you put truck in Drive position and you feel like your pulling a trailer. What is the problem with my truck? Happened out of nowhere.

A: right now get 1qt of lucas transmission conditioner and put it in/dont worry about the level just get it in there/trans is not going to low get the lucas in it

Q: Should I fix my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 V6 or get a new truck?
I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 V6 truck that has been good (no other major repairs). My front suspension is worn out and it will cost about 1500 to fix it. The truck has 152,000 miles and is worth about that same amount. I rely on my truck for work. Should I fix it or buy another truck with less miles?

A: I would fix it and keep it. Having no car or truck payments is a good thing.

Q: How can I increase acceleration on a Dodge Ram 1500?
I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Crewcab pickup with a 5.7 Liter Hemi V8 345 hp 375 torque engine. As incredibly powerful and fast as it is, how can I increase performance and acceleration without destroying what’s in my wallet?

A: Real performance upgrades cost real money, no way around it. You might be able to “chip” that engine for slightly more power relatively cheaply. Real power upgrades like superchargers cost much more money, but produce BIG results.

Q: How to install coil spring on 2001 Dodge Ram 1500?
I just purchased a set of 3″ Skyjacker coil springs for my truck; it is a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4×4 with the 5.9Lv8.

Can anybody help explain the steps I need to remove the existing coil springs to replace them with the larger coil springs?

Thank You!

A: You could go to skyjacker .com and watch the video, and check the box it came in, for the instructions. By the way, you are going to need a vehicle lift. pushing and pulling on a floor jack can only go so far, before that truck falls on you. ask dodgeman, he has been turing wrenches for 38 years, and my first name is Dick so youre not insulting me.

Q: What would the labor only cost be of installing an automatic transmission in a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500?
I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 that the automatic transmission went out on (lost reverse). I have a refurbished transmission to put in it, and am wondering what I should expect as a labor cost for a garage to do so.

A: You should be able to find someone to do it in their driveway for about $100-$150. Don’t forget the cost of trans fluid. A garage should do it for about $300.
